Black-Eyed Susan Awards

We are participating in the Black-Eyed Susan Book Awards.

The Black-Eyed Susan Book Award is a children’s choice award for the state of Maryland. Each year since 1992, the Black-Eyed Susan Book Award has been given to authors and/or illustrators of outstanding books chosen for the award by Maryland students.

The purpose of the award program is to promote life-long reading habits by encouraging students to read and enjoy quality contemporary literature that broadens understanding of the human experience.

The first, second and third grade are being read the nominees in the picture book category. The fourth, fifth and sixth grader who choose to participate are selecting books during library class. Grades seven and eight are encouraged to participate and visit the library at their convenience.

For more information about the Black-Eyed Susan Book Awards including guidelines and book lists, visit the Maryland Associate of School Librarians.
