#GivingTuesday 2018

Happy Giving Tuesday! Take an active role in the future growth and sustainability of the Waldorf School of Baltimore by making a gift to our Annual Fund. Help us expand and update our facilities, cover the cost of Sunbridge Institute trainings for our teachers, purchase athletic equipment for our Wolves, care of our beehive, and much more.

Dos and Don’ts of Classroom Decorations

Prospective families tend to feel a sense of calm and quiet study when touring our classrooms for the first time. This is directly related to Waldorf education's purposeful use of color and visual elements in the learning environment.

With Gratitude

At this season of gratitude, I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to our committed and passionate community of faculty, parents, children, and friends. Between us, we have created and cultivated a thriving school community, dedicated to educating and inspiring each child with purpose and love.

Land-based learning links curriculum with Indigenous culture

One of our favorite parts about this story is that Hunter's dynamic cultural immersion fit in seamlessly with his Waldorf education at Prairie Sky School Inc.!

"His education combines lessons from his ancestors on the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation in Saskatchewan with the curriculum of his peers in Regina, where he goes to school half the year." http://ow.ly/35YH30mlhnU

Parents and teachers are on the same page when it comes to school

Parents and teachers are some of the most important people in a child's life. Maximize the synergy of your educational efforts and love by going beyond quarterly conferences to keep the lines of communication open all year long!

"When teachers and parents communicate on a regular basis children are more motivated to learn, attend school regularly, have a good attitude about school and behave better. " http://ow.ly/eWOF30msFPA

What Teachers Want Parents to Know

As we kick-off the start of the second quarter, here a few things your class teachers want you to know:

"We care about your child's well-being.
We want your child to succeed.
We know that learning [may be] difficult.
We know your child has other responsibilities.
We care deeply about what we teach.
We love what we do."

The Power of Evening Routines

Each day is filled with unexpected challenges and detours of various shapes and sizes. Use your families' evening routine to comfort the bumps and bruises, celebrate the positives, and inspire children to face tomorrow.

Pediatricians strengthen stance against spanking kids

Discipline continues to be a hot topic. Pediatricians are weighing in.

"In a new policy statement, published in the journal Pediatrics on Monday, the pediatricians' group recommends that adults caring for children use "healthy forms of discipline" -- such as positive reinforcement of appropriate behaviors, setting limits and setting expectations -- and not use spanking, hitting, slapping, threatening, insulting, humiliating or shaming." http://ow.ly/SXgJ30mw9nK
