Dana Johns grew up in Pittsburgh, a city that has more bridges than Venice, Italy. After attending Indiana University in Bloomington and earning a Bachelor’s degree in Comparative Literature with a minor in Art History, she moved to New York City. Since 1991, Dana has lived in Baltimore City. After moving to Baltimore she worked at MICA, the Baltimore Museum of Art, and the Contemporary Museum. In 2000 she took some time off to be a stay-at-home mom. It was during this time that she discovered the Waldorf School of Baltimore Parent & Child classes with her son Wheeler Jarvis, now a graduate of the 8th Grade class of 2013. In 2011 Dana joined the Maryland State Retirement Agency. She is currently a Senior Investment Analyst in the Private Equity group. This unusual career path, for an arts person into private equity investments came in 2002 when she joined the private equity firm, Camden Partners. She worked there for nine years. During this time she earned a Masters of Science in Finance from Loyola College. Just prior to joining Camden, Dana had earned another bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Stevenson University. To stay actively involved with the Baltimore art world, Dana has served as president of the BMA’s Friends of Modern and Contemporary Art. She also serves on the board for CASA Baltimore (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and has been the co-chair for the Art of Caring (CASA’s annual fundraiser) since its inception four years ago. Dana has been active at WSB not only as a board member, but as previous President of the WSB Parent Association.
