Marty earned a BA in English at Goucher College. She received extensive training and experience in teaching students with language-based learning differences while working at Jemicy School between 2005 and 2009. Marty has a proven ability to teach reading, spelling, handwriting, and expressive writing using a creative multi-sensory approach. She is skilled at using some of the best methods for teaching students who struggle with the mechanics of language, such as Orton-Gillingham, Lindamood-Bell, Neuhaus Education, Wilson, Project Read, and more. Previous to 2010 and her present teaching career at the Waldorf School of Baltimore, Marty co-owned and operated a small gift shop in the Towson area called Ruxton Imports. She lives with her husband, Leo, and two cats, and enjoys outdoor activities like walking, running, sailing, and traveling to the Caribbean and the coast of Maine.
