First Snowfall
"Nature is full of genius, full of divinity; so that not a snowflake escapes its fashioning hand." — Henry David Thoreau
Snow, glorious snow! One of the joys of witnessing Waldorf's youngest students learn and grow in our nature-immersed Children's Garden is their reactions to the unique gifts presented by each fleeting season. At turns, awe-filled wonder, at others gleeful excitement, and in each sheer delight.
One of these not-so-rare moments of magic took place on Wednesday: the season's first snowfall. With each preschool and Kindergarten class already outdoors, and dressed for whatever Mother Nature might send them, our littlest learners were able to bask in every second of that all-too-short flurry of flakes.
Here at Waldorf, children receive a rich education spending much of their days outdoors a thus developing a deep bond with the seasons as they travel along the wheel of the year.
What a wonderful way to learn and grow.
