Jeri was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She was educated in Baltimore County Public Schools and briefly attended the University of Maryland College Park before returning home to join the workforce. In 2001, after a few years of retail banking, Jeri began her career at the Social Security Administration (SSA). She learned the customer service side of SSA while answering calls from the public at the Teleservice Center. She then worked her way through several positions in the Payment Service Center which taught her the ins and outs of processing claims and payments. She took this knowledge with her as she moved to SSA Headquarters and joined the IT department as a Systems Analyst. There, she worked with developers and other analysts to create and maintain computation applications that ensure SSA pays the right person, the right amount, at the right time. She is currently leading a team of analysts on a project to convert and modernize those computation applications from a COBOL to Java programming language.
Jeri joined the Waldorf community as a parent in 2013 when she enrolled her daughter, Dakota (8th Grade Class of 2023), in the Children’s Garden.
