Heather Lemkelde earned a B.A. in Modern Languages and Linguistics at the University of Maryland, Baltimore where she also completed a certificate program in Early Childhood Education.   She went on to earn an M.A. in Education from Union Institute & University with a concentration in Early Childhood Education.  She has taught for Baltimore City Schools, Discovery International School, University of Hawai’i at Mānoa Children’s Center, and was most recently the lead teacher and director of the Catonsville Cooperative Preschool.    She also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Kingdom of Tonga where she helped the Ministry of Education establish an Early Childhood training program for the Tonga Institute of Education. 

After choosing the Waldorf School of Baltimore for her own child several years ago, Heather now joins the Children’s Garden as a lead teacher.  She is looking forward to working with the children, families, and teachers as her understanding of the Waldorf pedagogy continues to grow.   In addition to teaching, Heather loves to knit, bake, garden, and go hiking & camping with friends and family.
