We will continue the Waldorf Robotics Afterschool Program in the Art Room for a fourth year. The program will be guided by Alumni parent David Freitag and Edna Emmet. Mr. Freitag is a process chemical engineer who is committed to offering young people opportunities to develop skills in science and technology.
Robotics Afterschool Program open to Grades 7-8
Start Date: Tuesday, February 4, and will run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays 3:30-5:00 PM for twelve sessions. Last class will be on Wednesday, March 13.
Cost: $100
Each student will build, configure and learn to fly their own remote control airplane. The plane will be built from scratch, not using a store-bought kit. The class will build their own planes from hobby store building material, add an electric motor, servos for ailerons and use a radio transmitter/receiver to control the plane while learning to fly.
This project combines concepts of robotics, aerodynamics, electrical circuits, and flight control. The planes will be tested in Tamarind Hall to see how they fly. All supplies to build and fly the plane during the class will be provided.
If your child is interested in participating in the robotics program, please complete the attached application form. The application is designed to assess the student’s interest, commitment, and expectations. The application forms are due by Friday; January 25. Completed applications go to the front desk to the attention of Edna Emmet.
Once the team is selected, registration forms will be sent out. If your child is also participating in afterschool sports, the fee will be adjusted.
